📖 Healthy Eating — Teenagers

A teenage boy happily cooking a healthy vegetable and chicken stir-fry, with fruit, low-fat milk and a packed healthy lunch on the counter

Overweight teens can have serious diseases. The best way to lose weight is to eat healthy food and be physically active.

Don't choose an unhealthy diet to lose weight… for example, eating very little, cutting out whole groups of foods such as cereals, skipping meals or fasting. Change your food habits, please! Eat healthy food! But what is healthy eating? Eat fruit and vegetables every day. They are excellent sources of vitamins. Drink low fat milk. If you like meat, you can eat meat or poultry. Eat fish, beans, eggs, nuts, cereals… They are sources of proteins you need in the period of growth. Avoid fried foods and high fat desserts. Eat them only on special occasions. You are sometimes very busy with school, homework, and sports schedules. You aren't often at home? Don't worry. Just take healthy snacks or lunches with you. Please just don't eat "junk" food or high fat foods.

Get healthier! Let's cook! Here are easy, yummy and healthy recipes for you.

🥣 For breakfast
Start your day with oatmeal and berries

Mix milk and oatmeal in a bowl. Microwave for about a minute. Stir and add berries. Enjoy!

🌯 For lunch
Up your energy with roast beef wraps

Spread mustard (or any other dressing) on wrap, then add slices of ham, tomatoes, lettuce and peppers. Roll the wrap up, then cut the wrap into four equal sections and enjoy.

🥪 After-school snack
Toasty cheese sticks

Toast the bread. Place the cheese between the 2 slices. Stick the sandwich into the microwave for a few seconds. Cut the sandwich into four sections and enjoy! Use dipping sauce for extra flavor.
